Hello, my name is Susan Walters. It is my privilege to be the principal of the Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy. I can’t think of a more important vocation than to educate students, not just academically, but also spiritually. Our mission here is to educate students to know Christ personally through an interactive learning process as modeled by Christ: He inspires; He transforms; He serves. It is incredible to wake up every morning knowing that this is the reason I go to work. I am truly blessed!
I have been in Christian education most of my life. Not only did I attend Christian schools as a child from elementary through high school, but I have also worked in Christian schools for many years. I first taught at the elementary level for 8 years, was then the Registrar/English teacher at a Christian high school for 3 years, and the last 2 years I was principal and teacher before taking on the role of principal here at PHAA.
As I look at the value of a Christian education, I don’t have to look any further than my own daughters. My desire was for them to attend Christian schools for a variety of reasons. However, the most important of those was that I wanted excellent Christian teachers influencing them as they grew. Raising children in our society is not easy. There are potential dangers and pitfalls around every corner. I believe each parent needs help and support raising their children, and since teachers interact with our children up to 7 hours a day, I wanted my daughters to have teachers who could not only teach them and prepare them academically but also influence them spiritually while I am working on with them at home.
Here at PHAA, we have a great academic program, outstanding extra-curricular programs and an excellent reputation. However, the most important aspect of any school is the people. I truly believe we have some of the best teachers, office staff and support staff you will find anywhere. Our desire is to provide you and your child with a great experience and to prepare your child for success at the next level.
If you haven’t already done so, I invite you to come tour our campus. I would love to meet you and show you our campus in action. Deciding on a school for your child’s education is a huge decision. If I can be of any assistance, I am happy to do so. You can email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
